Spectradyne moves to Signal Hill CA (still in Los Angeles)

Spectradyne continues its strong growth, and this last month completed a move to a new and larger headquarters! Our freshly renovated digs boast a significantly expanded space, allowing our team to grow and meet current and future demands for our technology. Please update your records with our new address:

Spectradyne
2501 Cherry Ave Suite 140
Signal Hill, CA 90755

We celebrated our move with a mural — watch it being painted here!

SARS-COV-2

virus

Using Spectradyne’s nCS1TM to quantify the SARS-CoV-2 virus

Dr. Zoltan Varga, of the Biological Nanochemistry Research Group at the Research Center for Natural Sciences in Budapest, Hungary, used Spectradyne’s nCS1 to measure the size and concentration of live SARS-CoV-2 virus in cell culture media. While we wait for the resulting publication, he presented his results at the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles’s Infectious Diseases meeting in February, and in more detail in a webinar hosted by SelectBio and sponsored by Spectradyne. View the recorded webinar here!

New technical support videos

Ever wanted a quick refresher on how to make customized, vector format data plots for publication using our ViewerTM software? Or maybe you forgot how to create a custom peak filter to gate around a specific particle population of interest in your sample? Ngoc Do, Applications Scientist at Spectradyne, reviews these topics and other commonly asked questions in a new set of brief how-to videos recently added to our customer support page — check them out here!

Recent and Upcoming Conferences & Exhibits

Upcoming conference presentations and exhibits

2021’s first quarter provided many opportunities for Spectradyne to engage with scientists. We were proud sponsors of the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) Infectious Diseases meeting 2021, the Circulating Biomarkers 2021 conference, and Select Bio’s webinar series on Virology/SARS-CoV-2. View our presentations at these past events in our video library, or catch us at an upcoming conference in the next few months. Spectradyne’s calendar for Q2 includes the ISEV Annual Meeting 2021 and the annual meeting of the American Society of Gene & Cell Therapy (ASGCT) in addition to other exciting events.

We hope to see you there!

Nanoparticles from PEG

nanoparticles

Does polyethylene glycol (PEG) form its own nanoparticles? Yes, we measured them!

PEG has been in the science news recently as being a possible cause of rare but acute allergic reactions in COVID vaccine recipients. The hypothesis is that in rare cases, patients whose immune systems have been sensitized by prior exposure to PEG may exhibit acute immune responses to the new vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna, in which the active ingredients are encapsulated in PEG-coated lipid nanoparticles (LNPs). Do PEG nanoparticles form spontaneously in solution? Yes, and you can read about our measurements here. Likely other vaccine additives do the same — should vaccine makers be concerned?

Please let us know what you think!
